Chery Unveils Flagship Arrizo 8L Sedan, Potentially Renamed Arrizo 9

Chinese automotive giant Chery is gearing up for a significant addition to its model range, having announced the launch of the new flagship Arrizo 8L sedan in 2026. According to information first unveiled at the 'Chery Family Banquet 2026' event in mid-January, this vehicle will be a key element in the company's strategy to strengthen its position in the premium segment. The first official images of the model have recently been released, further fueling interest in the upcoming newcomer.

According to Chinese sources, before its official market debut, the sedan may receive a new, more prestigious name – Arrizo 9. This step underscores Chery's ambitions to occupy the top tier of its sedan lineup, offering customers a blend of advanced technology, luxury, and dynamic performance. The Arrizo 8L/9 is expected to directly compete with established players in the business sedan segment, providing an attractive alternative.

The current success of the Chery Arrizo 8 Ultra in international markets, including Russia, provides insight into the standards the company sets for its flagship models. For instance, in Russia, the Chery Arrizo 8 Ultra is available starting from 3.225 million rubles. This model is equipped with a powerful 1.6-liter TGDI turbocharged gasoline engine producing 150 horsepower, paired with a seven-speed DCT robotic gearbox. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 9.8 seconds, and the top speed reaches 190 km/h. Concurrently, the vehicle demonstrates moderate fuel consumption: in urban cycle, it's around 9.9 liters per 100 km, and on the highway – only 6.1 liters.

The equipment list of the Arrizo 8 Ultra is already impressive and sets a high bar for the future flagship. Among other features, it includes a panoramic roof with a sunroof, multi-color ambient interior lighting, front and rear parking sensors for easier maneuvering, and an automatic high/low beam switching system for enhanced night safety. Second-row passenger comfort is ensured by aviation-style headrests, while the cabin's microclimate is maintained by air ionization and aromatization functions. An electrochromic rearview mirror prevents glare, and the driver's seat is equipped with electric lumbar support adjustment.

Safety remains a top priority for Chery. The Arrizo 8 Ultra is equipped with an extended set of 10 airbags, significantly exceeding the standards of many competitors. A premium audio system with 12 speakers provides high-quality sound. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with a range of advanced electronic driver assistance systems, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and other features that make driving safer and more comfortable. The Arrizo 8L/9 is expected to elevate these characteristics to a new level, offering even more innovative solutions and enhanced driver assistance systems befitting the status of a true flagship.
