Moscow's SEAO Volunteers Deliver 20 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to SVO Zone Since Early 2025

Moscow, Russia – Since the beginning of 2025, residents of Moscow's Southeast Administrative Okrug (SEAO) have demonstrated significant solidarity, collecting and dispatching over 20 tons of humanitarian aid to the special military operation (SVO) zone. This initiative, carried out with the active participation of social organizations, volunteer communities, church parishioners, schoolchildren, and pensioners, is part of an ongoing support campaign.

According to information from the press service of the SEAO prefecture, the total volume of aid transferred since the start of the SVO has already exceeded 100 tons. In addition to substantial supplies, volunteers have woven over 8,000 camouflage nets, a critical element for defense, and produced hundreds of thousands of trench candles. Work to support SVO participants has continued since the very beginning of the operation.

Scale of the Volunteer Movement

Elena Khromova, Deputy Prefect of the SEAO, emphasized that the initiatives of individual activists have gradually transformed into powerful volunteer movements, uniting over 200,000 participants. These communities address a wide range of tasks, meeting diverse needs – from providing for frontline fighters and military medics to assisting orphaned children in the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics.

"Hundreds of camouflage nets, thousands of trench candles, warm clothing, personal hygiene items, medicines, stretchers, equipment components, radios, and thermal imagers are regularly sent with humanitarian convoys. Drinking water and food products are also included in the aid list," Elena Khromova reported. She added that volunteers also undertake more complex and costly tasks: in 2025 alone, several vehicles, an excavator, as well as furniture and exercise equipment for hospitals, were transferred to the SVO zone.

Communities and Their Contributions

The weaving of camouflage nets has become a streamlined production process, with workshops operating in almost every district of the SEAO, including Vykhino-Zhulebino, Kapotnya, Kuzminki, Lyublino, Maryino, and Tekstilshchiki. This demonstrates the broad involvement of the local population in the effort.

Parishioners of the district's churches also make special contributions. At the St. John of Kronstadt Spiritual Care Orthodox Center in Lyublino, volunteers with special needs – including members of the multiple sclerosis community, and deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals – actively produce camouflage nets, cast dugout candles, make firelighters, sew surgical gauze wipes, and "Beware, Mines" signs.

Archpriest Mikhail Zazvonov, the spiritual director of the center, noted a significant increase in the number of volunteers: "Initially, we had about 20 volunteers; now approximately 80 people help in the workshops. Over the year, they have woven and sent hundreds of camouflage nets and produced thousands of trench candles," he stated.

Children are also actively involved in collecting humanitarian aid. For instance, members of the "Teenager" club from the Maryino district created over 300 New Year's greeting cards for fighters in December, filled with messages of support. Together with their parents, they regularly gather humanitarian aid. In December 2025, children's bedding, warm blankets, throws, and pillows were sent from Maryino to an orphanage in Lugansk.

Recognition and Gratitude

In December 2025, the Moscow House of Public Organizations in the Ryazansky district hosted a ceremonial meeting titled "Patriots of Russia." The event, organized by the public associations "Officers of Russia," the Federation of Cossack Union, and the SEAO Council of Veterans, served as a platform to express gratitude. The most active home front workers were recognized and awarded at the meeting, and SVO participants and volunteers received commemorative gifts and commendations for their invaluable contribution to the common cause.
