U.S. President Donald Trump is completing his first year in office, having entered with a promise to end what he termed "endless wars." While some of his electoral promises have been implemented, he found himself engaged in others.

A special segment from Washington, presented by Abdel Rahim Faqraa, shed light on President Trump's achievements and unachievements during his first year in the White House, both domestically and internationally.

The first year of Trump's term witnessed heated events, some being extensions of previous wars, while others were products of policies formulated by his administration, based on the principles of "America First" and "Peace Through Strength." His approach was characterized by bargaining with both allies and adversaries, and by toughness when flexibility proved ineffective.

The first year of Trump's term was marked by executive decisions, agreements to stop wars, the use of military force, and tariffs on strained economies.

Based on the principle of "Peace Through Strength," Trump managed foreign disputes, as reported by Wajed Waqfi, and relied on a bargaining approach sometimes coupled with deterrence language. This strength was occasionally military and swift, such as the bombing of Iranian nuclear sites last June, and the ousting of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro under the pretext of combating drug trafficking.

Trump's approach was sometimes economic, like the sanctions imposed on Russia and Iran. On many occasions, strength was diplomatic, employed by President Trump in his negotiations, either for economic purposes when he raised tariffs on all countries, from adversaries like China to allies like the Europeans who are still under threat of increased tariffs due to Trump's Greenland bargain.

Trump also extensively employed diplomatic strength for political purposes, aiming to create conditions for future economic deals. This was evident in the Middle East, which President Trump approached with a pragmatic style, coupled with his rejection of what he described as endless wars there, as reported by Wajed Waqfi.

Domestically, the U.S. President's powers expanded noticeably through hundreds of executive decisions and actions. Some of these angered Democratic opponents, leading the country into the longest government shutdown in history, lasting 43 days. These decisions also resulted in the forced and voluntary deportation of two and a half million irregular immigrants.

The deployment of National Guard troops in American cities to combat crime was a scene unaccustomed to Americans.

In his assessment of Trump's first year in office, Philip Crowley, former Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, stated that the President began his term with an active agenda, surrounded by individuals with a history in the Republican Party and a team loyal to him. During this period, he managed to control American policies and the global agenda.

For his part, Bernard Hudson, former Director of the CIA, opined that Trump set an international agenda and used it in a unique way, employing military force to support negotiation efforts, as was the case in Iran and Venezuela.
