Beijing, China - Ekhbary News Agency
Beijing, China, hosted its second humanoid robot half-marathon on Sunday, drawing a record participation of over 300 robots from more than 100 teams. The 21.1-kilometer race is taking place in the southeastern and southern parts of the capital, approximately 25 kilometers from the city center. The competition commences near Tongminghu Park and concludes at Nanhai Park.
A Qualitative Leap in Robotic Capabilities
Liu Weiliang, Deputy Director of the Beijing Economic and Information Technology Bureau, described this year's race as achieving a "comprehensive qualitative leap in terms of scale, number of participants, and technical capabilities." This event follows the success of the world's first human-robot half-marathon, held in Beijing last April, which featured 20 humanoid robots. In that inaugural race, the 'Tiangong Ultra' robot secured first place, completing the 21.1 km distance in 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds.
