Trump Signals Potential Breakthrough in Iran Negotiations
Reports indicate that US President Donald Trump has suggested that positive news regarding a second round of talks between the United States and Iran could be announced soon, potentially as early as Friday. This optimism is reportedly supported by Pakistani sources who have confirmed to the New York Post that mediation efforts involving Islamabad and Tehran are progressing positively. These efforts could pave the way for another round of peace talks within the next 36 to 72 hours.
Indirect US Confirmation and Text Message
When directly questioned by the New York Post about this potential breakthrough, Trump responded via text message, stating: "It's possible!". This gradual update follows President Trump's announcement a day earlier of an extension to the current ceasefire with Iran. In a post on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday, Trump stated that he had directed the military to maintain the blockade and remain on high alert in all other aspects, extending the ceasefire "until their proposal is presented, and the discussions are concluded, whether approved or rejected.".

Pakistan's Mediation Role and Peace Efforts
A Pakistani source confirmed that Islamabad has continued its diplomatic efforts through its channels with Iran in the hours following these statements. The specified timeframe for potential new talks is based on an assessment of these ongoing efforts. The source added, "The ceasefire remains in place despite the escalation in rhetoric, indicating goodwill from both sides. No military escalation has been recorded from either party." These remarks suggest a continued commitment to maintaining calm and avoiding further escalation, fostering hopes for diplomatic solutions.
