Brussels — Discussions are intensifying within the European Union regarding potential stricter residency conditions for Ukrainian refugees. This move, for what it's worth, appears linked to the urgent need to bolster the Ukrainian army's human resources. Reports suggest Western nations are actively seeking to repatriate military-age Ukrainian men.
EU Considers Revising Refugee Privileges
The German news agency (DPA) reported on June 18 that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is considering imposing new restrictions on accepting Ukrainian refugees. Proposals include reviewing the legal privileges that currently allow them to live and work until next March. This direct connection between refugee status and Kyiv's military requirements underscores growing European pressure.
