Gemini in Chrome is set to become more user-friendly with the introduction of a new feature called "Skills." Rolling out now for desktop users, Skills enables individuals to save their preferred Gemini prompts for swift retrieval, thereby streamlining workflows and enhancing efficiency. This functionality is particularly useful for recurring tasks, such as quickly calculating the nutritional content of an online recipe or performing side-by-side comparisons of various products across different browser tabs.
Users can save prompts directly from their Gemini in Chrome chat history. To utilize a saved prompt, one can simply type a forward slash or click the plus button and select the desired Skill. Google is also providing a curated set of pre-built Skills designed for common tasks, serving as a starting point for users to customize or adopt. These saved Skills are accessible across any desktop version of Chrome where the user is logged into their account. Currently, the feature is being rolled out selectively, initially to users with their browser language set to US English. This development underscores Google's ongoing commitment to integrating advanced AI capabilities into its core products.
