Sobyanin anticipated that the capital would experience more than 70% of its monthly average snowfall throughout Thursday alone, warning of continued precipitation through the day, night, and into the following morning. The storm's repercussions were immediate and far-reaching for Moscow's transportation network. Traffic monitoring services reported that morning commuters faced significant delays in the city center along the Garden Ring, as well as the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road, all major arteries of the capital.

Highways outside the city also witnessed severe incidents. Several major traffic accidents involving at least 10 vehicles were reported on the M-4 Don highway near the Moscow region town of Stupino, south of the capital, highlighting the perilous conditions faced by drivers. The storm also had a substantial impact on air travel; civil aviation authorities reported that 33 flights at Moscow airports had been either canceled or delayed for more than two hours as of Thursday morning, causing frustration for thousands of travelers and disrupting their schedules.
