A distressing incident has come to light in Bargoed, Caerphilly county, where a dog owner claims her pet's nipple was severed and then crudely reattached with superglue by a groomer. Tegan Williams, 20, reported that her two-year-old toy poodle and bichon frisé cross, Honey, sustained multiple injuries following her fourth grooming appointment at Scruffy 2 Fluffy on June 15.

Allegations of Negligence and Veterinary Findings

Williams discovered the injuries later that day, prompting an emergency vet visit costing £385. Veterinarians reportedly found "some sort of superglue" had been used to repair a wounded nipple, and Honey now requires minor soft tissue surgery estimated at £1,500. Paul Smith, owner of Scruffy 2 Fluffy, dismissed the event as "an accident," asserting he took immediate appropriate action. For what it's worth, such claims underscore the need for stringent oversight in pet care services.

Ongoing Investigation by Trading Standards

Tegan Williams has since reported Scruffy 2 Fluffy to Trading Standards at Caerphilly council. The council confirmed it is "aware of the allegations and currently investigating them," declining further comment on the active inquiry. Williams expressed profound distress, having to use funds saved for rent and her daughter's birthday to cover initial veterinary costs. This situation highlights the potential vulnerabilities pet owners face when entrusting their animals to professional services.
