Amazon, the e-commerce giant, has begun rolling out a new feature called "Join the chat," designed to transform the digital shopping experience. This innovative tool allows users to interact directly with artificial intelligence while browsing products within the Amazon shopping application, providing a personalized and informative journey.
Integration with Audio Product Summaries
The new feature builds upon an existing function known as "Hear the highlights," which offers a quick audio summary of key product specifications based on data and user reviews. With this latest update, shoppers can now pose specific questions while listening to these audio summaries and receive immediate, accurate answers from the AI assistant. The audio pauses temporarily to provide the response, then resumes from the same point, ensuring a seamless browsing experience. Users also have the option to minimize the audio player and continue browsing simultaneously without disruption.

Interactive and Guided Shopping Experience
Amazon describes this addition as mimicking a conversation with a knowledgeable store employee, allowing users to inquire about a product's suitability for their needs. For example, a user might ask if a coffee machine is appropriate for beginners or professionals, or if a clothing item is comfortable based on user reviews. The AI leverages context from previously presented information to deliver relevant and new answers, avoiding repetition. Currently, the "Join the chat" feature is available to iOS and Android users within the United States, as part of Amazon's broader strategy to expand the integration of its proprietary AI models into the shopping experience, with a global rollout anticipated.
