Iran's official news agency IRNA confirmed on Thursday the death of Kamal Kharrazi, head of the Iranian Foreign Relations Council, from wounds sustained in a raid that targeted his home last week during the ongoing war. Last week, Iranian press reports indicated that Kharrazi, 81, was injured in the attack that hit his residence, while his wife was killed at the same location. Kamal Kharrazi is considered a prominent figure in Iranian decision-making circles, having held high-level positions throughout his career.

War Context and Negotiations
This incident occurs within the context of the war that began on February 28, which has seen numerous Iranian officials, both diplomatic and military, targeted in US-Israeli raids. These talks follow US President Donald Trump's announcement of his approval for a two-week ceasefire with Iran, mediated by Pakistan, provided the Strait of Hormuz is fully and immediately opened, and the ceasefire is bilateral.
