Israeli Raids and Arrest in Quneitra Draw International Condemnation at UN

Israeli forces detained a Syrian youth during a raid and search operation in Ain Ziwan village, southern Quneitra countryside, on Monday-Tuesday night. He was released hours later without disclosed reasons, in a move observers described as a continuous violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Concurrent Military Incursions and Escalation

Local sources reported four Israeli military vehicles penetrating the village under drone cover, raiding a house and arresting the citizen. Concurrently, other Israeli movements were recorded; on Tuesday morning, a patrol of at least two tanks advanced into Tel Abu Qubeis in rural Quneitra. The previous day, military vehicles deployed near Al-Mughr in western Daraa countryside, firing smoke grenades. This pattern of incursions, it's plain to see, aims to assert Israeli control within the buffer zone, challenging international norms and agreements.

Widespread International Condemnation at UN

During Monday's UN Security Council session on Syria, widespread international condemnation of ongoing Israeli military operations emerged. Syria's Permanent Representative, Ibrahim Al-Olabi, held Israel responsible for obstructing stability, citing the Israeli Prime Minister's declaration of non-withdrawal. Deputy Special Envoy Claudio Cordone denounced the near-daily incursions, urging adherence to the 1974 agreement. Representatives from France, Britain, Russia, China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Panama, and Pakistan also demanded an end to violations, unanimously affirming the Golan as occupied Syrian territory and deeming Israeli military presence there lacking legal basis.
